Features and Differentiation

What are the features of Intellimas?

Intellimas has a multitude of features that allow you to create beautiful, comprehensive web applications for a variety of use cases. It includes spreadsheet and form features, master data retrieval, document management, image viewing, field level security, alerts, reporting and dashboarding, an integration engine, and much more. See a list here or see examples here and here.

What differentiates Intellimas from other low code app builders?

  1. Intellimas has a flexible, multi-level grid and comprehensive form builder
  2. Intellimas has a unique way of retrieving data from other sources and connecting it to Intellimas fields and business logic to create a complete process and eliminate redundant data
  3. You can use simple expressions or comprehensive vb or c# script to manage all kinds of business logic
  4. Intellimas can be deployed on-premise or in the cloud
  5. Intellimas can be configured by our clients or we can do it for you, using the vast experience of our solution architects and deploying best practices
  6. See more here

Is Intellimas a spreadsheet?

No, but it has the spreadsheet features that we all know and love. It has a back end database, workflow features, and a reporting engine which allow for the creation of full-featured applications. Spreadsheets are great for ad hoc analysis, but core business processes are meant for Intellimas.

Can Intellimas help with internal or external collaboration and workflows?

Intellimas was originally created to eliminate the back and forth that is involved with collaborating on spreadsheets. Configurable security and alerts allow you to get the right data updates to the right people at the right time. Whether it involves vendors, students, customers, or just internal teams, Intellimas can streamline your processes.

Can we add custom business logic to the apps?

There are several ways to add custom business logic in Intellimas. Mostly this is done with the scripting engine and configurable calculations. Scripting allows for an infinite number of possible workflows, formulas, and business logic. We also have simple expressions you can use for calculations and validations. The goal is to allow for ultimate flexibility and to leverage existing skill sets in your organization.

How does Intellimas handle integration with other systems or databases?

Intellimas has a full set of integration tools when you need them. It has web API’s to integrate data with your existing systems, inbound or outbound. You can use our service bus to generate messages to update Intellimas entities or external systems. It also has a job scheduler and built in integration tables for staging data as needed. See more details.

How is security handled in Intellimas?

From an infrastructure standpoint, Intellimas uses HTTPS protocol to send data between the web browser and the Intellimas website. HTTPS is encrypted in order to increase the security of the data transfer. The Intellimas database is encrypted while in use and at rest (for backups). Intellimas can use a variety of the popular authentication methods as well. From an application standpoint, Intellimas utilizes roles to manage row and field level security. This is all part of the entity configuration and allows for a multitude of workflows and flexibility.

Implementation

Can I deploy Intellimas on-premise?

Intellimas can be deployed on-premise (which means the customer manages the infrastructure) or in our cloud. We use AWS for our cloud. An on-premise deployment gives you more flexibility to retrieve data at the database level. It also allows you to implement Intellimas within your own security model. Of course, implementing Intellimas in our cloud lowers the friction in getting started with your app building.

How easy is Intellimas to deploy?

If you choose to use our cloud model, you can start creating apps immediately. Simple apps take hours or days to create. Complex apps take more thought to plan out and we are available to help you if you need it. If you choose to deploy Intellimas on-premise, we will provide you with very straightforward installation instructions and have you on your way to creating apps in no time.

Am I on my own with app building in Intellimas or can I get help?

We have specialists for support that can help you through any part of the process. There are typically three approaches in terms of our involvement:

  1. We create the web apps for you – we work to fully understand your requirements and then start the configuration. We tailor the requirements gathering to the project and the client goals. They can be done in requirements workshops or can be exchanged in email, or anywhere in between. We configure the system and then have a configuration workshop right away so that you can confirm the direction. We then finish up the configuration, reports, and dashboards and provide you with a user acceptance testing period. Training can be a “train the trainer” approach or we can provide full end user training. Once you are live, we have a support team ready to help when you need it.
  2. You create the web apps – we train the person(s) who will create the apps and then we take a support role while you create the apps. Our training will provide you with best practices in terms of what we have learned with previous implementations.
  3. Hybrid – in this approach we may create the first required web app for you and then you pick it up from there. Or we co-configure after the requirements sessions are completed and divide up the work accordingly.

What skill set is required to build apps?

Depending on the complexity of the app, we suggest that the person creating them is anywhere from a super user to a business analyst (business/IT liaison) to a programmer. The person who creates apps should have previous experience with setting up applications and should understand data. Beyond that the person should be excited to learn new technologies and enjoy providing capabilities to business teams.
